Hurffville – Cross Keys Road Reconstruction

(Gloucester County Route 654)

Services:

  • Topographical Survey
  • Concept Plans
  • Preliminary Design
  • Final Design and Quantities
  • Specifications

Washington Township, Gloucester County, NJ – This project involved widening and resurfacing nearly a mile of single lane County road to provide two lanes in each direction with appropriate turn lanes.

This completed Gloucester County’s years-long effort to provide better traffic flow between Monroe Township and Delsea Drive. It also completed the connection from Monroe Township to Route 55 in Deptford by way of Egg Harbor Road (also a County road) and gave Kennedy Heath System’s local hospital better regional access.

The project included roadway widening, reconstruction and resurfacing, and design of horizontal alignment so that right-of-way acquisition was not necessary. Design included detailed grading, curb ramps, signing and striping, guiderail, soil erosion and sediment control and traffic control /staging, as well as underground infiltration system to accommodate stormwater runoff from new pavement widening.

Fries Mill Road (Gloucester County Route 655)

Washington Township – Monroe Township, – Borough of Clayton, Gloucester County, NJ

Services:

  • Highway Traffic Analysis
  • Wetlands LOI
  • Engineering Design

Traffic analysis and design for the 3.8 mile portion of an arterial road from the vicinity of County Route 610 to County Route 689, including existing future traffic analysis, future projections, traffic signal analysis, and accident analysis. Improvements were recommended to mitigate current traffic and safety issues, as well as to provide additional capacity for future growth.

The project was accomplished in 2 Phases

Phase I included:

  • Traffic analysis (roadway and intersection movement capacity and levels of service)
  • Existing right-of-way plans
  • Survey control information
  • Concept plans and intersection concepts
  • Conceptual right-of-way acquisition requirements
  • Conceptual construction cost estimates
  • Identification of potential environmental impacts
  • Identification of potential stormwater management facility locations
  • Confirmation of existing and planned future utilities
  • NJDEP Freshwater Wetlands LOI
  • Recommendation of the preferred alternative scheme for further development

Phase II included:

  • A preliminary depiction of road easement/right-of-way requirements
  • Preliminary roadway improvement plans
  • Preliminary construction cost estimates
  • Definition of environmental impacts and permitting requirements
  • Preliminary stormwater management plan and requirements
  • Utility relocation requirements and conflicts to be resolved during final design

Turnersville – Hickstown Road Phase 3 (CR 688)

Services:

  • Survey
  • Design
  • Permitting
  • Bid Documents
Borough of Pine Hill, Camden County, NJ – CES completed surveying, design, and bid documents for a one-mile portion of Turnersville Road (CR 688) in the Borough of Pine Hill. The distressed roadway surface was in poor condition, and some portions of the roadway flooded during high rain events due to inconsistent profile slopes, a lack of collection points, and undersized existing storm water pipes. Pedestrian facilities were also of concern due to the high density residential development in the area, as well as a middle school and high school within the project limits.

The project included pavement reconstruction, milling and overlay, concrete curb, sidewalk, striping, and extensive storm sewer upgrades. The design plans also included specific constructions details for 30 curb ramps including dimensions, slopes, and detectable warning surfaces to ensure compliance with ADA/PROWAG requirements.

NJDEP Beach Replenishment Project at Oakwood Beach

Services:

  • Surveying

Elsinboro Township, Salem County, New Jersey – The NJ Department of Environmental Protection – Bureau of Coastal Engineering, hired CES to perform surveys of 13 parcels of land for the Oakwood Beach Replenishment Project on the Delaware River Bay. This was a long awaited project, funded by the Federal Government and NJDEP. Because of the eroded beachfront, residents had seen their properties take on flooding and damage during bad storms. The nearly $10 million project aimed to replenish the beach and better protect the properties associated with the waterfront.

CES surveyed individual properties so agreements could be formed between the homeowners and the State.

Princeton University Lakeside – Graduate Housing

  • Surveying
  • Construction Stakeout
  • As-Built Surveys
Princeton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey – Construction companies often choose CES to provide full construction stakeout and construction engineering assistance, as shown with the new $83 million Princeton University Lakeside Graduate Housing project.

The project included construction stakeout for 15 buildings, containing 715 beds of graduate student townhouse and apartment housing, and a 400 space parking garage. Surveying services included inspection of concrete levels, plumbness of steel structures and window elevations, as well as full site improvements stakeout, as-built surveys including electric services as-built.

Marriott – Residence Inn

Services:

  • Control Survey
  • Construction Stakeout
  • As-Built Surveys
  • ALTA Survey

Hamilton Township, Mercer County, NJ – Briad Construction Services chose CES to provide full construction surveying services for its latest Marriott Hotel on Route 130.

The initial efforts were to identify control points and lay stakes for initial grading.  Later surveying involved all aspects of the parking areas, utility lines, stormwater management, building, pool, and an imaginative multi-sport (pickleball) outdoor court.

While the surveying was hindered by the large amount of work vehicles on site at any one time, CES personnel worked with the site superintendent to assure all relevant points were available as needed.

Lastly, CES surveyed the final construction and prepared as-built surveys and an ALTA survey to the level required for permanent financing and release of any bonds.

Washington Township, Gloucester County, NJ – Kennedy Health Systems is constructing a $225 Million expansion of its Washington Township Hospital. The hospital and its Architect, CRTKL, chose CES to provide full site surveying, site planning, engineering, and traffic services.

Initial efforts by CES included a full site land survey to be used in the site planning process. An outside subcontractor identified underground gas, telecom, fiber optic, and other hidden utilities for CES to survey. These vital connections and relocation requirements influenced the final site design.

Additionally, relocation of an integral sewerage pump station, stormwater management, traffic and parking considerations were studied and led to off site parking surveying and design. Kennedy plans a new bed tower and parking garage as the first part of expanding and updating the hospital.

1900 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA

City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA – CES completed fieldwork for this Title Survey over the course of a weekend to avoid the heavy pedestrian and automobile traffic of busy weekdays. It included a legal description, and noted exceptions to Title.
